Be Prepared for Monday!

Hi All,

Just a few reminders as we move into our last week of rehearsal before Tech Week and the shows!!! 🙂

ALL ACTORS MUST BE OFF BOOK ON MONDAY! Encourage them to practice their lines, songs, and choreography over the weekend.

ACTORS need to bring in their LAUNDRY BASKETS and COSTUME PIECES on MONDAY for the COSTUME PARADE on TUESDAY! If your actor will be wearing a costume from the Costume Palace, our costume crew will be picking them up in time for the parade. Please be sure to bring your socks and shoes!

-We are still To Be Determined on Rehearsal on Friday, 10/6. We will let you know once we see how the show is progressing early next week.

Have a great weekend!

Financial Update & Reminders

Financial Update

Thank you to all the cast who got their fees in on time! Now it is the crew’s turn. if your child is doing crew, please send a $25 check made out to “WMS Drama” in with your child or mail it to Vanessa Wernicke at 1134 Brayton Ave. by October 5th. This will cover the t-shirt, snacks during tech week, and the party after the final show. If your family cannot pay because of financial difficulties, please email us at wyomingmsdrama@gmail.com to let us know before the deadline.

Many of the cast have already sent in money for the DVD of the performance. If anyone else would like to get a copy, please write a $25 check to “Kevin McLaughlin” and send it in with your child or mail it to Vanessa Wernicke at 1134 Brayton Ave. before October 11th. We will be handing the checks to Kevin at the first performance, so late checks will not be accepted.
If you have committee expenses (props, paint, fabric, food, etc.), please save the original receipts. Please print and fill out the reimbursement form Shrek, Jr. Reimbursement Form PDF, then mail it to me at 1134 Brayton Ave. (or give it to me in person) with receipts attached. The deadline to submit expenses for reimbursement is the Friday after the final show, October 20th.
Thank you!
Vanessa Wernicke
Treasurer for Shrek, Jr.

A reminder for actors to bring in their laundry baskets tomorrow and costume pieces (if applicable) as soon as possible. They can also bring in their make up if they have it. Please be sure make up is labeled and in a bag.

We hope everyone looks forward to getting back into character tomorrow! 🙂

Rehearsal Schedule Adjustment for 9/20 and Costume Information:

Please note that tomorrow’s rehearsal schedule has been modified slightly. We will be Rehearsing #s 10-15 (instead of just 11-15). These scenes include Donkey, Shrek, Knights/Guards, Dragon, Fiona, Fiona Ogre double, Rooster, Blue Bird, Pied Piper, and Rats.

From the Costume Department:

Costume Items Supplied From Home

Laundry basket – Please bring Monday, Sept. 25th

Cast members will need to bring in a small laundry basket labelled with their name to store their costume(s).

Shoes and Socks/Tights – Please bring Friday, Sept. 29th or earlier

Unless otherwise noted below, all cast members need black shoes and socks or tights to go with them. Ideally, these would be ballet or jazz shoes, black flats or other plain black shoes. Try to avoid hard soles that make a lot of noise when walking. If you have more than one role, make sure that you have the correct shoes for each role.

 Exceptions:

Fiona, Teen Fiona, Young Fiona – white or nude shoes for wedding scene, nude tights

Ogres/Pied Piper/Dwarf – brown or black boots (we can make boot covers if you don’t have them, but please let us know asap).

Guards/Knights – black boots (we can make boot covers if you don’t have them, but please let us know asap)

Bluebird/Sugar Plum Fairy/Rats – Rats should have black dance shoes and nude or pink tights. Bluebird and Sugar Plum Fairy may have nude, pink, or costume-matching ballet shoes and tights.

Dragon – can choose red or black dress shoes, embellishment or bling ok

Clothing – Please bring costume items Friday, Sept. 29th or earlier

The kids will be changing in a common boys or girls dressing room, so please have them arrive for performances in a leotard or tank top/shorts to go underneath their costume. They will also need to bring these to school and change into them before the costume parade on Tuesday, October 3rd, the dress rehearsal on Wednesday, October 11th, and the performance on Thursday, October 12th. If they are changing into a leotard-based costume, they may use the curtained dressing room or the girls bathroom across the hall.

 In addition, please bring:

Duloc Performers – black pants (leggings if possible) and black long sleeve shirt

Lord Farquaad – black pants

Sugar Plum Fairy – ballet costume

Pied Piper – black or brown leggings

Baby Bear – jeans or corduroy pants

Raccoon – plain gray shirt (long sleeve if possible)

Pigs – white long-sleeved shirt

If you have any questions, please send an email to wyomingmsdrama@gmail.com.

Thanks and enjoy the extra long weekend!

I’m A Believer!

Wow–we bit off an un-BELIEVABLE chunk of choreography today and everyone did a terrific job! You’ll be singing “I’m a Believer” for days after the show ends. Whether that’s good or bad, we’ll let you decide. 😉 It’s quite an earworm.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE REMINDER: Just a reminder of the rehearsal schedule the rest of this week and the first half of next week. Not all actors are called, only those listed under “On Stage” on the Rehearsal Numbers/French Scenes page. For example, tomorrow we will be working in Scenes 6-10, so the following are called: Knights/Guards, Gingy, Farquaad, Shrek, Donkey, Duloc Performers, Young Fiona, Teen Fiona, Fiona.

If your actor is uncertain if he or she is called or not, they can also check the script pages (listed next to the Rehearsal #), and if it still isn’t clear, please ask.

When we REVIEW on 9/27 & 9/28, if your actor is singing backstage for any one of the scenes we will be working on, they are also called for rehearsal, even if they don’t have any onstage scenes. We need to figure out where they are all going to fit back there, esp once we bring in Tech Crew.

We are right on schedule and the show is coming together nicely. Just remind your actors to review their lines for the scenes they are in the next day at rehearsal so they are ready to go!

MAKE-UP: We’ve got plenty of time, but wanted to let you know that we will be asking each actor to bring their own BLACK eyeliner pencil and BLACK mascara, labeled and in a bag (small, plastic sandwich bag will work). Cheap is fine! So don’t let them talk you into a trip to Ulta or Sephora unless you’re going to treat yourself too! If your actor has a stage make-up kit from last year, if they can bring that in labeled and in a bag as well, that would be great, but no worries if you don’t have one or it is no longer usable. They can bring these items in when they are asked to bring in their LAUNDRY BASKETS, which will probably be sometime next week.

Thank you!

All Cast Called Monday!

Choreography is going great, but we still need to learn the final number! Therefore, ALL CAST are called Monday 9/18, from 3:30-4:30. After the break @ 4:30, just the actors in Rehearsal #s 1-5 need to stay. Please be sure to practice your lines, singing along with the CD, and dance steps this weekend. Thank you!

Updated Calendar

Attached is the updated calendar. For your convenience, also attached is the Rehearsal Numbers page. Please note that next week, only actors in the scenes that are being worked on are called each day (i.e. Monday, Scenes 1-5). If your child isn’t certain if they are called or not, they can reference the script. The pages for each scene are listed in the second column. Thank you!
